Update on life, the universe and everything
I am back among the unemployed. My temporary job was done Friday. It was nice to be a wage-earner but the anxiety of the place was off the charts. So all told, it's best I'm no longer there.

I am taking 3 classes this semester in my major - Simulation and Game Design. One is on-line, which I hate. But it's "Intro to SGD" which means so far we've read the chapters assigned and taken the quizzes. Not overload by any means. The other two are programming classes, the first of which is fine. It is using Flash to make games. The second is using C# to make games. C# is computer language and we are trying to learn it. Hopefully it will stop being in ancient Greek very soon! (No math classes this semester which is an infinite relief to me!)

I have finally started my Big Big Bang for five0bang which has to be 40,000 words. I considered dropping out several times but there are only 4 of us doing it and I don't want to make it three. I'm sure it will be fine. Here is my progress meter:

4964 / 40000
(12.41%)

Impressive, huh? Yeah, I thought so too.

I'd really like it to be September 23 already. Not that I want to wish my life away but I need some Steve and Danny in my life - right now. Coincidentally, it's the day before The Avengers is released on DVD. So double-yay.

While I'm fan-girling, can I state my emphatic displeasure that there has been NO Star Trek X news!?! No sneak peeks, no buzz, no rumors. I went to see a movie over the long weekend and there were plenty of previews for other movies coming out next summer. But NOT Star Trek. Why does JJ Abrahms think he has to keep it double-top secret? It doesn't build anticipation. It just annoys the hell out of us. Or me. Maybe not you. But, seriously. Seeing Chris Pine in his Captain Kirk uniform would not spoil the movie going experience for me, I promise!!!

And so ends the editorial portion of this post. Otherwise, my life continues to be incredibly boring. And mostly I'm okay with that.

You???

I misseded you!!! Sorry to hear about your job, but if it wasn't all the great of a place to work, maybe it's good you aren't working there anymore. Re: your classes: wow! that's all over my head.

me? got my hair done yesterday, today very people at work noticed. and it's not like I just got a trim. it's a different hair style. Kind of irked me. tomorrow I get to go to the Hollywood Bowl to watch the Los Angeles Philharmonic. I'm very excited because I've never been. Also, this coming Sunday I turn 30. I waiver from excitement to not really caring. lol who knows how I'll feel on the 9th lmao

Thank you BB! Yeah, the working thing wasn't great for my soul. Good for the bank account but there is way more to life than that!

I saw the posts about your hair. My goodness!! It's so beautiful. How could your friends at work not notice? I can't imagine spending that amount of time to get it done but it sure is worth it! Love how it looks on you!

30 is no big deal. I saw it in the rearview mirror way longer ago than I care to admit. It's just a number!! And you are as young as you believe!!!

:-)

Thanks! I don't know how they didn't recognize either. They'd ask me how my holiday weekend was and I'd be like "oh, I went to my cousin's and got my hair done..." and they'd sort of look at me and go "oh cool" and move on to the next topic.

Well, since the job was causing you stress I am glad you are out of there.

OK, so maybe because I am part of a Karl Urban forum I have heard plenty about Star Trek. Nothing concrete... but just enough to keep me interested. Well... plus I am a true KU AND CP fan... so I have all if their movies to fill in the gaps until I can get some decent ST News.

If you want the link to the Star Trek images from the forum let me know. You don't have to be a member to look... just to comment. Though I warn you now... straight up one of the images... the uniform is kinda disturbing. (Made me think of the old SS uniforms.)

Yeah... was gonna make you ask... but decided "Nah, be a nice girl and just share."

Link #1

and

Link #2

In the first link are the images of Gary Mitchell (Cumberbatch) fighting Spock. (He's wearing a fleet undershirt like what Kirk wore in '09... lending weight to Karl's Gary Mitchell slip.) we well as Anton and Simon in the disturbing SS fashion uniforms.

Hey!

Glad to hear from you! It's awesome that you've gotten some writing done despite the fact that you're juggling classes. Hard, but worth it. Writing fic is such a nice outlet!

I'm sad about the no Star Trek news as well. Although, I saw a relative this weekend who was home visiting and he told me they're filming Star Trek on the lot behind his office. I was like, "Quick! I need pictures of Pine! Of Quinto! Of Cumberbatch!" But of course he couldn't help me. That sound stage is locked down tight. Can't wait for the movie.

I can't wait for H50 either. I need a healthy dose of Danny/Steve. I've got fic languishing because I haven't had inspiration to continue.

Thank you!!

Writing fic is a great outlet! When the muses are in agreement! (Are you still willing to Cheerlead for the 40,000 story? If not, I understand but hearing encouraging words would be a great bonus for me! Or even not so encouraging words - "what the hell is that?")

How could your friend not come through to you in your time of Pine/Quinto/Cumberbatch need? Oh well. I guess I can't really blame him. But this whole shroud of secrecy thing is so annoying to me!!

Oh man - September 23 CANNOT get here fast enough!! At least me get sneak peeks of our Hawaii Boys!!!

Always so great hearing from you!!!

I'd be happy to be your cheerleader! Go, you! Yay!

Let me know how I can be of help.

Been there and know what it's like to be in a job with lots of stress. That's why I left my previous job. When I woke up having a panic attack I knew it was time to find something else.

Good luck with your classes!!!

You can do it, you can do it, you can do it...I know you'll finish your Big Bang!
Are 6 dogs too many?: Max squeetkeylasunset on September 6th, 2012 01:59 am (UTC)
Yeah, I had to leave my full-time job to avoid panic attacks and another occurrence of food poisoning.

thanks for the good words about my classes. It's going to be really interesting, I'm sure about that.

And thanks also for the encouragement with my Big Big Bang!! I've written a few stories longer than 40,000 words but never all in one go. But we'll see how it goes!!

:-)

First of all, I hope I get to read your bigbang story when it's finished! Yours are among the few long fics I'm willing to read! :DD

Sorry about the job, but it sounds like it's better this way. Jobs can be anxiety-provoking and get in the way of fangirling. I'm definitely against that! (As I sit here at work typing a comment on LJ...)

Those classes sound difficult to me! Programming? Eek! You are very brave to do that!

Must work now....There's never much interesting to report in my life.
