Need help from my gaming friends
So for one of my classes, I have to participate in a weekly on-line discussion. This week's topic is:

Over the years, many games have been ported from one console to another. Some game were designed to be cross-platform (Skyrim, DC Universe Online, etc). I recently purchased Total War: Rome 2 for PC. There were a few gameplay items that are a little different from previous games in the franchise, but I'm still having fun.

Then I came across this. While this article was release a few months before Rome 2, it might explain the gameplay changes.

What is your opinion of ported games? How about your thought on the matter from a gameplay and business perspective?

Personally, I am not a fan of titles ported from PC to console or vice versa. Games ported between platform types (PC, console, mobile) tend to have technical issues or missing features.

Interesting question. But as you know, I don't play video games. Do you have suggestions for an intelligent response I might be able to "borrow"? Yeah, it may be cheating. Thank you very much!!!

My main comment is that your icon for this post is awesome.

Personally, if I was faced with that situation, I'd probably acknowledge my ignorance on the subject and try to use it to facilitate the discussion. Sometimes an outsider perspective can get people to look at an issue with a bit more clarity as they explain it. So I would read the linked article and have a list of questions that it brings up for a non gamer.

Thank you - I love my icon!

My ignorance of all things gaming is well documented within the program. I did consider doing like you suggested. I think I will do that. I'm pretty sure what I write on the post isn't as important as participating in the discussion, in whatever form that takes.

Thanks again!

The whole reason for ported games is for business. Some people don't play games on their PC, others only can afford one or two systems, while others like to have mobile games to play...when mobile. More verity equals more chance of money.

Personally I can not think of why someone will buy a game for more than one system. BUT I am also a person that still plays her lower level gaming consoles because they still work so why re-buy games?

So for game play I pick the one that goes with the console that as the features I like best.

That makes a lot of sense to me. I hadn't thought about the various features that consoles bring with them.

Thanks for the insight!!
