What's New In Your Corner of the Interwebs?
Maybe you've noticed I've been MIA recently? Or maybe you haven't for which I certainly can't blame you.

What is going on in the life of Tkeyla? #1 is school. My classes this semester aren't nearly as challenging as the ones I had last year, so that's a positive. The classes I am taking are frustrating for a variety of reasons, none of which are important enough to go into at length.

I register for next semester in a week and a half. I'm going to have to take mechanical physics because it's a requirement of my major. I can barely handle algebra and trigonometry - I don't know how I'm going to survive physics. But survive it I will! I'll also be taking 3 gaming classes, which will be good.

I am now working in the tutoring center 16 hours a week - Monday and Wednesdays from 12 to 6, and Fridays 10 to 2. I started with my Mondays this week and I am exhausted. Which is ridiculous. I used to work 40+ hours every week. Now I work 16 hours (plus, of course, the 14 hours I'm in class) and I can't handle it. It sucks getting old. I don't recommend it.

Speaking of working 40+ hours, yesterday was the 2 year anniversary of the day I quit my job. These 2 years haven't been anything like I expected. They aren't better, they aren't worse. They are just very different. I still miss my friends from work, and I do wonder sometimes if I made the right decision to quit. Then I remember that I nearly died of food poisoning because of the amount of stress my job was causing me. That reminds me it was the only decision I could make.

On another note - I love November. I love Fall the best of all the seasons. And now that November is here, it's getting time for holidays, and food, and baking. It's a great time of year!

In fandom news, I still love our Hawaii Five-0 boys. I don't discuss it much because of all the negativity that has been surrounding the show. I'll continue to hold tight to my love of it, as imperfect as it may be.

I love, love, love Sleepy Hollow. And I am someone who can't stand horror or scary movies. It is creepy but not over-the-top. I mean, there's a headless horsemen but he isn't horrifying, except that - you know - he has no head. The show incorporates enough light-heartedness and humor that it doesn't creepy me out. Plus Ichabod and Abbie are soooo adorable! I highly recommend it.

I've also been watching Agents of SHIELD because I adore Agent Coulson. I'm not loving SHIELD yet. I don't hate it but it feels like it's running through mud. It can't pick up enough steam. I don't know how to "fix" it but it's not quite working. I won't give it up so long as Coulson is on it. Love that man!

And I'm looking forward to when Almost Human starts. I'll be watching it for the Karl Urban. God, that man's attractive!

I'm excited about Thor coming out next week. My sister has to work all weekend so we won't be going to see it opening day. I'll drag her to it as soon as we both have time. (Not that I have to drag her anywhere Chris Helmsworth is taking off his shirt!)

So, my friends, how are you? Any news you wish to share?

I really wish I could get on board with Sleepy Hollow but I watched a couple eps and it just didn't grab me so I gave up. I'm the same way with zombies that you are with horror, I really can't take zombie entertainment at all but The Walking Dead sucked me in and aside from the odd gory kill I barely even notice the zombies anymore.

I too am holding fast to the love of the Five 0 team. If ever you want someone who you know will squee with you give me a holler.

I can't imagine watching Walking Dead but it's funny what grabs hold of our interest! I do love Sleepy Hollow though - even if it's not my usual preference.

I know I can squee with you over H50 and I very much appreciate it!

I missed you!

I'll be going to 2 colleges for school. I register for both in the coming weeks. For my current college, my registration date is at the end of November, for the other, I don't know as I haven't gotten the email like they said I would.

I know for sure I'm going to take Math at the second college, but at the current one, I don't know what's going to be offered that I still need. If anything, I might end up taking the 1 night class on Thursday nights, if it's offered and none of the others are available. I also decided I wanted to take creative writing and Spanish. I'm hoping creative writing will allow me to do more fanfic, but I really doubt it lol

I have an hr until tonight's H50. I've see all positive (and 1 negative) review for it.

Thank you BB!!

College has its own set of particulars, doesn't it? You never quite know what's going to come up next.

Did you enjoy H50 last night? I thought it was a really good episode, but then I tend to enjoy all of them.

Love ya!

From what I was able to see of H50 I did like it. my mom kept calling me away and since I was watching live, I couldn't pause/rewind to see what I missed. But now that I have the episode, I'll be watching later. I wanted to see the TP and party bus scenes. they're the ones I missed.

Hugs you and squeezes you and calls you friend :-) What can I say I'm overtired so this is what happens!

Good luck with the classes!

I still love H50 and staying away from all of the craziness that has been happening! You know that I'm in love with Sleepy Hollow too!

Off to post your treats!

I tried to like Hawaii 5-0, but I prefer CSI: Miami (with CSI: New York as a close second.) Just the chemistry connects with mine better, and it is good that my friends are different from me.

Ichabod Crane shall always be the bumbling school master to me. I did try Sleepy Hallow (4 episodes) and my brain would not allow the lack of a major freak out (and incorrect dates) to move past the 4th episode.

On the flip side, I am enjoying Dracula. It reminds me of Sherlock Holmes (RDJ/Jude Law). It is dark, without gore, it has an egotistical and intelligent Dracula, who burns in the sun (unlike the mindless sparkling vampires that sparkle as a faceted diamond does... do you know how easy it is to shatter a diamond with a hammer? So very easy, never test your diamonds thus, it will end in tears.)

I was really hoping S.H.I.E.L.D. would be better than it is. There are parts that make me smile. Others, still, that make me wish to slam my head into a wall until I am unconscious.

I am looking forward to Almost Human. Where I believe that JJ Abrams is as good as a director as M. Night Shyamalan when it comes to movies. He does know what he is doing and what the audience like when it comes to television programs.

Other News: My Grandkitty (my daughter's cat) had a kitten on Halloween. Sadly the poor little thing was stillborn and Spock is depressed. Though Mjolnir is doing her best to comfort her by snuggling up to her.

I am about 1/2 way finished with my kidficstory entry. I did finish my tw_everafter story (and I actually like it! Shocking because I rarely enjoy my own writing.) I signed up for mini_wrimo. Though I probably shouldn't have. I get the same effect as when I report to 12mowrimo, which dante_s_hell hooked me up with at the start of the year.

I have gotten a few more people hooked on Teen Wolf (which makes me happy, because a few of them are very good writers who gently guided me into writing Fanfiction.)

Now, I am tired and I wish you the best of times. Heavens knows we all need them. *hugs*

Hey BB!

You are writing all the words! Good for you.

I tried watching Teen Wolf and it just didn't work for me. Isn't it funny how some shows are IT for us and some shows leave us cold?

Is Dracula gory? Or is it pretty okay for most people? I thought about trying it but gore is not my cup of tea, at all.

Many huts!!! Edited to say: Many hugs!!! I don't think you'd want many huts would you?

So far (2 episodes in) there is less blood and violence than Buffy. There us plenty of off screen violence alluded to and there is a bit of blood, but truly there is next to no gore.

It starts off slow, but it ends awesome.

If you can handle the 'gore' on this picture, then I think you will be able to handle the 'gore' in the show. :) (One warning, there is late 1800 medical practice, performed by a *gasp* woman.)

**Edit** Many Hutting Honey Hugs for you. ;)

I'm currently struggling with an extremely stressful work situation (too much work, not enough people to do it, and a management that don't seem to care enough to do anything about it) which is impacting on my life as a whole, largely due to the effects of stress exhaustion. The future is uncertain - we're so busy actually *doing* the work that we've no time to go out and find more work, so the pipeline for next year is looking somewhat empty. The way things are at the moment, part of me is kind of hoping that it all implodes so that I'll be forced to look for something new....

In fandom life, I'm still watching H50, but staying back from fandom stuff a bit because I don't need any more negativity right now. Plus I have to admit that I preferred the show when Steve/Danny were the main partner focus rather than Steve/Cath - I want to see Steve and Danny working as partners, sharing their troubles and helping one another out, rather than all the emotional connection being Steve and his girlfriend and the S/D stuff feeling 'tacked on'. I liked the show better the old way, and I'm having to face the fact that it's not going to be like that any more and move on.

I'm also watching and enjoying Supernatural, Person of Interest (I have a serious girl!crush on Shaw), White Collar, Orphan Black and Sons of Anarchy, and working my way through the entire back catalogue of Due South fanfiction :)

Other than all that, my kids and cats continue to be adorable, which at the end of the day is what matters most, right?
Are 6 dogs too many?: beauty and the beasttkeylasunset on November 2nd, 2013 11:16 pm (UTC)
I feel for you and your stressful job situation. I'm so sorry! Happy kids and cats is always good. And your husband is liking his new job still, right?

Fandom seems to run in cycles which is just the way it is. I'll stay happy in my own little world if that's what it takes - I'll write it the way I want it to be.

Sounds like you have plenty of fandoms to keep you busy!!

(((hugs)))

So good to hear from you! Isn't it funny how the smallest things can be exhausting? I'm sure tutoring would be tiring to me. All that interaction with other people. I was never good at teaching. But that's me, not you! I'm glad you classes seem to be going smoothly.

I started watching Sleepy Hollow but it was still too scary for me. I'm a wimp. I did like the dynamic between Ichabod and Abby. I need to look at Almost Human. It looks good!

School for me is going well but takes a huge amount of time! I easily spend 20 hours a week on it. My term paper is due right before Thanksgiving, and I need to get in gear with that. That's why I'm not around online as much as I used to be. About all I do anymore is work, blog, school, repeat. I slide in a little exercise and cooking when I can. :) My next class will be Managing Diverse Teams, and I think that will be a little easier for me because I have a strong background in psychology. Right now I'm in Ethics and Sustainability, and all the business and management concepts and jargon are so new to me that it takes a while to catch on. I wish I could take Mechanical Physics with you! Actually, I would love to take any class with you--I bet we would have a blast together!!

Hey BB! Missed you too! We've been kind of MIA, haven't we? School - why must you take so much time?

I totally avoid anything scary or gross - I've never even seen Jaws. But Sleepy Hollow doesn't bother me and I have no idea why. I hope Almost Human lives up to the potential I've seen in the ads. But Karl Urban! He's good for several hours all by himself.

Wouldn't it be great to take Mechanical Physics together? Right up until we were thrown out of class for having too much fun!

(((hugs)))
