Request for help/information
Three plus years ago I started keeping track of my fanfiction on an Excel spreadsheet. When I went to open it, to update it for April's counts, I discovered it was corrupted/broken.

When I try to open it, I get this error message:

excel error message

I created it on my Mac and tried to open it on my Mac. Is there something I can try that I haven't already tried to rescue it? (I've tried everything I know to do but nothing works.) I know I could recreate the info on the sheets but it would take a lot of effort.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

you've probably done this, but have you checked that the extensions are correct?

when I can't open a file, that's what I do.

Also, downloading openoffice (from Apache) and trying to open it with that might help. I've been able to open a few files with openoffice that I couldn't with word, powerpoint and excel.

I think it's just gone. :-(

I tried Open Office and it didn't recognize it. I checked the file extension and it's right. Oh well. At least it wasn't really important. And I can reconstruct it.

Thanks!

Here are some more possibilities - OpenOffice is one specifically mentioned.

I tried Open Office with no luck.

The other suggestions seem to all be for PCs not for Macs. I couldn't find the corresponding menus they suggested.

Oh well. It's not the end of the world.

Thanks for your suggestions!

If you'd like to email it to me, I'd be glad to give it a try. My email for fandom stuff is Lolag721@gmail.com. No worries if you'd rather not but ... I like puzzles. ;)
