WAY overdue update
Hello! Is that a new outfit? Stunning on you!

I have returned home after two weeks of helping my sister in Baltimore. (She's the one who broke her right shoulder in three places.) She reports that she is well on her way to recovery. She will start physical therapy in a couple of weeks and that is going to help with her mobility.

I am still really tired. Being away from home and helping out with every aspect of her routine was exhausting. I feel like I still haven't gotten my "land legs" so to speak. I feel off-kilter but this too shall pass.

When I got back from Maryland on Saturday, my sister (the one I live with) and I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy. Loved it!!! I want to go see it again this weekend. So glad it wasn't grim-dark. When did movies stop being about having a good time and start being about death and destruction and producing as much anxiety as possible?

Now I want a Guardians/Avengers crossover. Joss Whedon - make it happen!!!

Fall classes started yesterday. I am taking two graphic arts classes. They aren't required for the stimulation and gaming design program but there are SGD graphic electives that are never offered. They can't find anyone to teach graphic arts for gaming so I'm taking regular graphic arts classes. I'll be in class with artistic people! Not sure how that's going to work out since I have very little artistic ability.

I have classes Monday to Thursday, 9:00 to 12:30. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I'll be working in the tutoring center 1:00 to 6:00 and Fridays 8:00 to 2:00. There have been some recent changes to the operating processes in the tutoring center but I was in Baltimore for the meeting. I'll find out this afternoon how it will be operating differently. I'm pretty sure the changes won't be for the better. The college is up for reaccreditation this year and that makes people lose their minds. The accreditation body is not the enemy but everyone acts like it is. Unbelievable.

Yesterday I had an interview at a local yarn shop for a part time job. I doubt I'll be hired because she's looking for someone to cover full days at the store - 10:00 to 6:00. I don't have any full days except Saturday and Sunday. I'd like to work there even though the pay is paltry. But there is an employee discount for yarn and being around all that beautiful yarn would be a balm to my creative soul. I should know by this afternoon if I have the job. No harm no foul if I don't get it.

I finished watching all the episodes of Castle. Now I can't wait for it to resume in September!!! Poor Kate. Poor Rick. Will they ever have their happy ending???

My sister and I are crushing on Nathan Fillion. No lie. Adore him!!! But how can you not?

I'm also very much looking forward to the return of Hawaii Five-0 and Sleepy Hollow. This whole summer hiatus is not good for me! I want to rewatch Sleep Hollow - see if it "feels" differently in light of how the season ended! I'm trying to convince my sister to go with me to Wilmington to stalk the actors but she's not too excited about the idea. According to Google maps, it's only 3 hours to Wilmington! Piece of cake.

I haven't done any writing in the month of August. Not This Life is begging to be finished but I don't have the mental reserves right now to focus on it. Hopefully getting back into a routine will help my muses come out of hiding.

And I think that's it for right now.

Hope you are all feeling as fabulous as I know you to be! And thanks to those who responded to my "I'm so homesick" post while I was in Baltimore. I intended to respond to each comment but as you know, that didn't happen. It wasn't a lack of gratitude. It was a lack of energy.

Love to you all!

glad you made it back safely! Glad your sister is recovering too.

Good luck with the classes. I don't have any artistic abilities so I wouldn't be able to take any advance art classes, let alone enter into a gaming program.

Good luck with the job too

Thank you BB!!

My sister reports she's feeling better.

The graphic classes are going to be fun, I think. We had to draw our "spirit" animal today in class and my picture was not the worst!

We'll see what happens with the yarn store job. No word so far.

Missed you!

XOXOXO

Take your time getting back into the swing of things, and good luck with your art classes.

Thanks!!! It's taking me longer than I expected to get back into being home. I had a whole "summer projects" list, most of which I didn't get finished. But taking care of my sister was my top priority!

(((hugs)))

I love GotG. It reminded me of the fun summer movies of the 80s and early 90s. The soundtrack was awesome and I am not saying that because I grew up with the music. :P Shoot, it even inspired me to write. (No, don't read it. You might start to think I am truly effed in the head. I mean I am, but!)

Unless your school has some shady dealings behind the scene (possible, just not probable) then they need to stop stressing over it. Acting like a long tailed cat at a rocking chair convention will only make them look bad. Sheesh. Hopefully they will not change your tutoring job too much.

I am looking forward to The Blacklist coming back. I can't help it. I love James Spader. I just have to wait a month, then I get to see Red in action again. Sheesh, he's older, but still sexy. (Yes, I have had a crush on James Spader since I saw him in Wolf and Stargate.)

The Maze Runner is coming out soon. Looks dark, but looks good too. (At least I know they got a good actor for the lead role.)

Glad you are back home. I have missed you. *hugs* Get rested up and I hope you have a fantabulous semester. :)

I am totally reading it!!!

You are completely correct about the school freaking out over the accreditation. Keep your act together - stop trying to pretend it's not going to happen!

GotG rocks - figuratively and literally!!! That song track was my youth!!!

I couldn't go see Maze Runner. There was a preview at GotG and just that much of it terrified me! Those poor boys!

Missed you too!! (((hugs)))
