My End of the Year Summary
(I originally posted this here but didn't fill it out. Please feel free to copy and paste and do your own summary! I love being up into everybody's writing business!)

This is an excellent time of year to pause and look back at our writing accomplishments. I love seeing what everyone has done in the past 12 months. So what do you say we post our totals and other writing-related tallies!?!

This is meant to be NO pressure to you. And the 12 months is a convenient but pretty arbitrary time period. Skip any you don't want to answer. Add any I didn't think to put on the list.

Copy and paste the list below and post to your journal. Then link back here so we can all celebrate with you!

(I don't know how to put this code in one of those fancy boxes. But I think this will work:)

Total number of words I wrote in 2012: 222,109 (OMG - I do have a life, I promise!)
My #1 fandom by word count is: Hawaii Five-0 (216,703)
My #2 fandom by word count is: Star Trek XI (5406)
My #3 fandom by word count is: none
Next year, I'm thinking about dipping my toes into this fandom. Maybe. Probably.: Avengers movie verse? IDEK

The story that I wrote which got the most reviews/comments is: Bulletproof Baby Blankets mostly because there are so many chapters!
The story that was the most fun to write: Come Home Safe because my BFF asked me to write it and I'm very pleased with the way it came out.
The story that was the hardest to write: 5:59:59 because it needed an actual plot!
The story that I would rewrite if I could: Visit of the Tin Man (I don't think it conveyed what I wanted it to.)
The story that I would unwrite if I could: Olowalu Paintball Explosion (Not that I hate it but it got no love.)
The story tories that I didn't write which I enjoyed reading the most: Painting the Blue Boy  by minou_demimonde, An Ode is Owed b superbadgirl     many others I can't seem to find at the moment.
Something I tried writing that was brand new to me: I included plots. That was different.

Other information about my writing I'd like to share: When I'm stressed or need a break from "real life" I tend to write. That's why my word count is so high. (I'm so embarrassed that my count is sooooo high. Who does that?) Also, reviews, comments, kudos feed my muses, who are completely in charge. Responses are love!

I don't write. I make awesome graphics, which you can see here: I post periodically on   scottcaan_daily   because   bluedelft    lets me be silly and ridiculous.

You have been very busy! And I'm sure these are all great, since the ones I've read have been.

My wordcount for the year is about 600, maybe? :) I think my reading wordcount isn't much higher than that.

Yay indeed!!! You haven't done it yet, right? I don't think I saw it. I'll have to double-check.

Happy New Year, BB!

Avengers are calling to me but I don't know. I think I'm scared to commit to it!

It has been a stressful year - that accounts for a lot of the word count!

Here's to a restful, healthy, happy New Year!!!

So jealous of your word count. I do not think mine is even 1/2 that. :( Good going though. :) *hugs*

Congrats on your productivity! And I think a lot of people write to give themselves a break from the stresses and strains of real life. It's so important to nurture the creative side of yourself!

Thank you!! It does nurture my creativity to write! And helps to relieve stress. Both of those are the reason my count is so so high!

Thanks, BB!! Happy New Year!

That is an impressive word count, and I don't think it denotes a lack of life, more of a need to escape stress as you mentioned.

HA!!! You got plot too! Exciting, isn't it?

And then I'll just leave you with a chant: Avengers! Avengers! Avengers! Avengers!

Plots!! Who would have guessed, huh?

Avengers Avengers Avengers!! They are calling my name. You hear them too, huh?

Happy New Year!!

They are calling my name! They are!!! And they're all so pretty, so difficult to choose just two or 3 or 7. Who are you thinking?

OMG Your icon!!!

If I do write Avengers, Phil will NOT be dead.

One of the reasons I haven't gotten into Avengers is because of all the delicious possibilities!! I really think the Tony/Bruce dynamic is one I'd love to explore, even though Steve/Tony is so much more popular. But then I really like Pepper and that makes it hard.

So yeah. If I could just stop thinking long enough to write, I might get something done.
kaige68: hawkeye smirkkaige68 on January 1st, 2013 11:02 pm (UTC)
I LOVE PHIL!!! That was so brutal, I get it, but ... wow. However, I'm very excited about the upcoming shield series!

The cartoon series got me hooked on HulkEye, although 'hooked' is a loose term as there is not a lot of it. From the movie, it's all Clint/Coulson and Bruce/Tony. I would adore seeing some Bruce/Tony from you. And yes, I love Pepper, but it would be great if she had read some RPS and thought they were pretty as well. Just a thought.

And yes I do know the so much pretty going through my head I can focus on one thread to write.

We can do this! I am sure!

(And yes, I can't recall where I got it, but Clark Gregg does make the tie look good.)

220,000 words is a nice-sized first novel. I'm just sayin'.

And if I could choose the story I wish I had written, it would be 5:59:59. It was tight, well-plotted, and a damn good read. And it showed exactly what you are capable of.

And I hadn't read Olowalu Paintball Explosion before. Missed it somehow. It's good, Tkeyla. Very good.

We all need some kind of a break from reality. Psychologists say that people who live exclusively in reality go insane. I find no issues with taking breaks now and then, especially since you do something creative with it.

Good job. Can't wait for next year.

Re: Hmmm
Thank you for the reminder!!! It would make a full length novel!!

Thanks for the kind words about 5:59:59 and Olowalu Paintball Explosion. (A lot of people missed reading it, apparently ;-)

I do escape reality. It's returning to it I sometimes struggle with. As my high word count might indicate!

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Re: Hmmm
I think that you might find reality easier to deal with if you were doing something for yourself like creating original fiction that comes from deep in your heart. Even if you never got it published you can find a great deal of peace in telling the stories of your heart. But you're good enough that I think you could end up making as living.

Tkeyla, you're talented, intelligent, and capable. You can do anything. You just have to give yourself permission to do that.

Mind you, I adore your fan fiction too. I just hate to watch a great talent go unused.
