WIP Challenge Day 1
I wrote 1,000 words on the WIP I chose for the challenge. It is now up to 4350 words. It is entitled The 80/20 Principle and may never see the light of day. Because it is about Steve and Danny beginning a sub/dom dynamic. Not 24/7 though. And I'm not sure I'll get it where I'm willing to share it.

I have very complicated reactions with these sorts of stories. I love reading them but I never feel like I can do them justice when I try to write them. I also have some trouble admitting I love them as much as I do. See - complicated!

Was that TMI???

Edited to say: dante_s_hell has spoken. She gives it a thumb's up. So it will probably see the light of day. Once I get to a good place to post. Stay tuned.....

I totally get that! I love types of stories but don't feel comfortable to write them.

I would suggest maybe asking those who do write it for tips and/or suggestions? If you haven't already done that.

I do hope you get to the point where you feel comfortable sharing it. I'd love to read it.

I'm glad it's not just me that has some reservations about writing them!

While talking to someone who writes them would have its merits, I'm not sure I can even do that. That would mean I'd have to be open about my thoughts on it.

Oh God - I probably should have never admitted it to start. My face is turning red as I'm typing this!

admitting is good! maybe someone who follows you and writes it will give you pointers and you won't have to ask.........

*looks around furtively* I love those types of fics! You'll have to share when it's done. No fair teasing us.

You're very sweet to both admit it and encourage its completion! I just don't know!!

Thank you!

Some friends started a community call 1_million_words. They want to see if collectively we can write a million words by the end of the year. Pretty sure we'll make it!!!

We'd love to have more participants, if you want to join. You'll find it here:

39 words? It's not quite 60, but better than nothing XD .
Are 6 dogs too many?tkeylasunset on March 12th, 2013 02:29 am (UTC)
That's 39 more words than you had before you wrote them!!! That's the important part!!!

I don't think I could even attempt tp write that kind of fic....but I do like to read them. I think you should share! :). I hope you get through it.

Thank you!! Isn't it funny that we all want to read them but not necessarily write them??

I'll try to work up the courage to share!

Couple of things:

1) I love that you pimp the comm!! *squee*

2) Very politely ask dante_s_hell if she'll read through the fic. It never has to see the light beyond her, but it would give you some more perspective, and might make you feel more confident about what you've written. If you keep it to yourself, you will never know how good/bad/indifferent it is. Kink is good and healthy, and there's no wrong in writing or reading it. GO FOR IT!

1) I love this comm!!! (Well, you know. This is actually my journal but you know what i mean!)

2) I was thinking of asking her that exact thing! Thank you for living inside my head!!!
kaige68: quackkaige68 on March 11th, 2013 10:53 pm (UTC)
1) I DO! I know what you mean!

2) I just had an image of you when you move into the Retirement Home for Inveterate Slashers whispering to your new roommate. "She lives in my head." Pointing at your ear. "Right here, Kaige lives in my head."

Surely they'll see you too!! I mean, you're right there!

I'm sure I'll be confined in my nice white huggy coat! Cackling and quacking!

I know what you mean. I find the D/s thing very hot (the whole power play/control thing fascinates me), but I can rarely read it - I need to *believe* in why the characters are having this relationship, I need to *feel* it, and all too often I don't find that. The sex may be hot, but without the psychology it doesn't really work for me. I have written it, though - I may tag my Firestarter series fics as having 'D/s undertones', but in reality it is D/s, although not 24/7 D/s.

Don't feel pressured to post it if you don't want to, but equally don't fear judgment if you do - we're a very understanding lot here. I've had some of my most interesting online conversations as a result of posting some of my most personally difficult and/or darkest fics.

Yes! Power/control - hot and fascinating. That's why I want to be able to write it - to explore.

I've read yours and they are brilliant!! I just re-read all of your Fair Trade stories. Mine isn't anything like that but did give me the courage to revisit the one I may or may not be writing!

I did write one that was fairly dark (for me) for Star Trek and I got such an ugly backlash from it, I'm gun-shy. I didn't think my ST story was anything to cause riots but you would have thought I was punching kittens in the face. Makes you leery about trying it again.

thanks for the words of encouragement!!!
