Thoughts/opinions/theories needed
For a H50 story I am writing, I am putting Steve, Danny, Kono, and Chin in a safe house. You know, because...

They'll be there for less than a week. Would they go to work while they are being "sheltered" or would they remain hidden away? If they went to work, it would be to find the guys they are hiding from - hence the need for a safe house. (Okay, I know they wouldn't ordinarily hide but I think it works with my plot.)

So, my fine writing friends, should they remain hidden in the house? (Which is at the edge of the rain forest.) Or could they drive into work and return at night to the safe house?

(There are plotty complications and reasons and stuff going on. But I think this is enough info for y'all to be able to provide your thoughts?)

Thanks in advance!!!

considering their personalities, or at least Steve, I think they would try to go to work to to find the person(s) who have them going into a hiding.

I just don't see them being able to get to work and back to a safe house unnoticed by whomever they're hiding from...it could compromise the location of the safe house if anyone saw them going to the rain forest.

I second this.

Let them work from the safe house and then leave when they can capture the people responsible for pushing them into hiding.

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do. It will make the story a little more complicated, but hey - what's an extra few thousand words between friends?

I think you're right. They would have to remain hidden not to compromise their safety. And you can be certain that Steve is not happy about being kept out of the action!

Thanks BB!

I think that if they are in a safe house, they'd have to remain hidden there. If they went to work, the bad guys could just take 'em out there.

Now, they could work out of the safe house, coming and going under the cover of darkness, maybe with help like from Toast and maybe Kamekona. Danny and Chin might actually know some minor criminals (snitches and such) that could help out as well.

Knowing our team, though, they'd want in on the action. So they might chafe at being in a safe house and then do everything they could to find the people after them. None of them are the sitting around and waiting for others to do the work type. :-)

Some cop contacts, some stealth SEAL moves, and some computer tricks...well, they'd have the bad guys in no time.

Not sure if this was the answer you are looking for, but I tried. Lol!

Good luck with the story!

Thank you!!

So far, Kamekona doesn't have any ideas. (We did think to ask him!) And I'm a little leery of using the computers in the safe house because the baddies could trace their signal. But you're right - between Toast, Chin and Kono, that won't be as big an issue.

Steve is most unhappy at being kept out of the action - you are 100% right about that! Which makes it more deliciously angsty and complicated.

This was exactly the answer I was looking for! Thank you.

I agree - they'd work out of the safe house. I like the idea of that. There's nothing wrong with their office but it is a pretty standard office building. Fun to have them in an exotic setting, tucked away. Also, opportunities to have them all together 24/7ish, researching, planning or just hanging in the evenings in a setting where they're all a little out of place.

They would work out of their safe house. Going to work would jeopardize the chances of the safe house being compromised by someone possibly trailing them back if they went to the office - but that could be fun as well :)

That's what I thought - they should stay sheltered. But I wanted to make sure it made sense outside of my head. My muses sometimes make plot decisions I don't agree with then I can't tell if I'm being stubborn or I really do need to change the story. Muses! They are pushy bosses!

Thank you for confirming what I thought was the right way to go!

That is one of the reasons I sent them to the safe house - so they are all out of the "comfort zone." Plus I love the idea of them being together 24/7 like you said. (I'd have Grace there too but I sent her to the mainland with Rachel. I won't let anything happen to Gracie!!)

Thank you so much! I won't let them go to work while they are being sheltered. They'll do all their investigation from the safety of the house.

Hmm... speaking of which - would you be at all interested in proofing this story for me? It's for hawaii_bigbang and has to be a total of 40,000 words by September 1. It's currently at 15,000+ words.

If you'd be willing to undertake this proofing, I'd be eternally grateful! If you aren't, I totally understand.

Thanks in advance.

Sure! I'd be glad to. I'll be on vacation 6/6-6/14, but not totally out of pocket even then.

I would think that a safe house would literally be that--somewhere that out Fabulous Foursome could hide out until they emerged. kicking butt :)

Oh - they will be kicking butt when they leave!! And I do like the idea of them being sheltered together!

Thank you! Now if my muses will allow me to write this section the way it should be, we'll be good to go.
