A Real Life Update of Sorts
I realized I hadn't posted in quite some time so in case anyone is interested (admittedly doubtful) I thought I'd fill you in on some of the plot elements of my life.

My sister and I have created our pet sitting business. Thanks to everyone who sent the pictures of pets. (And yes haldoor if you are reading this and still willing, I'd love your small animal pictures.) I'd provide a link to our business website but it has our real-world info on it. That makes me a little bit leery of putting out there. If you are curious, email me and I'll provide you the link!

I'm not taking summer classes so now I have way too much time on my hands. That means I can't get anything done. I'm not even writing. When time is not of the essence, I can't seem to do anything productive. Counter-intuitive, clearly. But I think hobbies like writing and making stained glass are stress release. When you are not working or attending classes at the moment, it isn't as imperative to do those things. Does that make sense?

I've started roller skating a local rink. I love it! I have roller skated practically since I could walk. So I ordered a new pair of quad skates and have had my love of skating rekindled. I have a pair of rollerblades somewhere but I haven't found them yet. I'm going to take those to the rink as soon as I locate them.

Skating at the rink is an interesting experience, musically speaking. There are some adults who skate although mostly it's teens and younger. I don't recognize any of the songs they play, except that they play the same ones every week so I've gotten used to them. "Moves Like Jagger" and "Gugum Style" are very popular. (Is gugum right? I have no idea. Yep, I'm cutting edge of hip.)

My sister and I have seen Iron Man 3 several times. It's just such fun and I love Pepper especially. The whole movie is a good, good time.

I haven't seen Star Trek a second time yet but I plan to go to an afternoon matinee soon. I know I'll like it better on a second viewing.

We are having a minor dog crisis in the house. As I think you know, we have 6 dogs. Three of them - Pudge, Hannah, and Zumi - came first and are mellow and all whatever. Pudge is the oldest and the alpha dogs. She doesn't exert control over the other dogs but they do not mess with her. At all.

The second sub-pack, if you will, consists of Kashmir (the Newfoundland), Layla, and YoQuera - both of indeterminate origins. Lately, YoQuera has started going after Zumi. Zumi is extremely passive and never aggressive. YoQuera is rarely agressive, except when it comes to Zumi. YoQuera has attacked her three times. The first time was late at night and happened in the front yard where there is no light. We couldn't get them to stop fighting. Once YoQuera starts it, Kashmir and Layla get into it too. Hannah barks at them stop and Pudge gets the hell out.

We have no idea why YoQuera has decided to attack Zumi. YoQuera is the physically smallest of the dogs and shows NO aggressive tendencies toward anyone but Zumi. Zumi doesn't provoke it. Zumi isn't Alpha dog. We are a loss.

Have y'all ever experienced this? They have all lived happily together for the past 3 years. It started last week. It makes NO sense. There have been no real changes in the house to cause it. And it's bumming us out in a huge way.

In other news, I finally was able to register for fall semester classes. Yes, the college I attend is so backward that the fall schedule wasn't released until June 12!!! Can you believe it? I am taking 3 simulation and gaming classes. I still need to take mechanical physics but decided not to take it this semester. I wanted to leave enough free hours in my schedule to work in the tutoring center. Certain money. Not taking physics means I'll have to attend school next fall too but that's not the worst thing to happen. I have to take technical electives that are never offered so maybe the extra semester will give me the chance to take them all.

Fandom related, I'm disappointed in the splintering of the H50 fandom. We used to have such fun. Then a handful of fans decided it was all about them, effectively destroying the fun for the rest of us. Do you think we could take back the fandom? Make it the happy, aloha, fun loving place it once was? Can enough of us work to pump life into it? A community can be a community - 1_million_words proves a community can exist with Drama.

Also fandom related - I'm very excited about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this fall. Phil Coulson lives!! There may be a few other shows I'll start watching as well. We'll see, I guess.

I think that's everything right now. A head's up though - if you see my muses, I'd really appreciate if you'd send them home. I miss them!!!

So how are you??? I miss you, my friends.

Yay, congrats on your business! And going back to school. Good luck with the doggies, though :(

Thank you BB!!! Are you doing okay after the Big ST Drama of '13? What a mess that was!!

We're going to start whacking heads if we have to in order to keep the dogs straight!

Thanks again!!

scraplovescraplove on June 18th, 2013 01:57 am (UTC)
Yes, I'm doing okay now, thanks. That was indeed a gigantic mess, but I made some new friends and learned exactly whom to avoid. The drama has basically stopped. Actually, I have been meaning to ask you, since I know you're part of trek_news, is there any way to get the mention of The Drama removed from Friday's newsletter? It's pretty much over now, and I would rather not risk a resurgence. If not, I totally understand. Just thought I would ask!

Oh doggies XD

Are 6 dogs too many?: purple avatortkeylasunset on June 18th, 2013 02:09 am (UTC)
I'd edit it out if I could but we can only edit the ones we post. Which I understand but sometimes I'd like to make changes to posts from other editors. Wrong? Sure. Doesn't stop me from wanting to.

At any rate, if you PM Friday's editor, she'll probably take it out. We're pretty good about deleting items when we're asked.

Dogs - I know!!!

scraplovescraplove on June 18th, 2013 06:20 pm (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion! She took it out for me.

Scrapper got a haircut today, and he's a little shorn sheepie! He has terrible allergies that mess with his skin, so I'm hoping this will help. I hope your doggies do better too!

I'm really trying hard to ignore the fandom stuff, but when I get casual fans or whatever asking me about it and I give them super watered down version of what happened, to my knowledge, an I get attacked! So now I'm like whatever. You want to know, search it out or ask someone else. I'm not going to talk (much) about it anymore.

I'm anxiously awaiting the release of the fall 2013 schedule at my school. They probably won't be released for some time yet. Summer classes are in full swing. I still need to make appointments with financial aid and the Administrative Justice counselor. I really need to stop procrastinating there! And get my unofficial transcripts from the other college.

I hope you get things sorted with the dogs. I haven't a clue when it comes to what's going on with my crazy cat, let alone with dogs. :-/
Are 6 dogs too many?: Pudgetkeylasunset on June 18th, 2013 12:54 am (UTC)
I stay as far away from drama as I possibly can. I'm so conflict averse, I avoid it at all costs!

Makes me sad that we can reveal in the fun like we used to!

I'm so excited that you are going back to school!! I understand about dreading those appointments. If I hadn't worked at the school I attend, I'd have been lost. But ask lots and lots of questions. No question is dumb!!! They really are there to help even if it sometimes feels like they aren't. And if you can't get an answer from the first person you ask, keep asking!

Dogs are just too dog-like sometimes!! Hopefully it will settle back down. The upsetment just came out of nowhere!

I was always on the periphery of the H50 fandom so everything sort of passed me by. But unfortunately it happens to some fandoms :( I think stay in your niche with folks that make you comfortable and enjoy it!!

I think the muse may be stirring! I'm attempting to finish the Jim/Bones AU I started about 2 years ago for reel_startrek.
Are 6 dogs too many?: enterprisetkeylasunset on June 18th, 2013 12:55 am (UTC)
I guess all fandoms have their splinters. Sad, really. I do have my happy-place friends. We stick close!

Go muses! Go muses!!!

I'm so sorry! I will get some pics to you soon - I've just had madness going on and now it's ended, I'm slowly getting things caught up.

Sorry to hear about the dogs. I have no clue about that, but hope you find a solution that works for you soon.

I didn't even know there was bad stuff going on in H50 fandom; that's how clueless I am (not joining in with discussions works quite well, it seems!). Keep hanging out with us at 1_million_words instead - there's plenty of H50 fans there to keep the fun alive!

Good luck with finding your muses, and also with school-related stuff. I didn't go to Uni(versity) so it's all completely like a foreign language to me, but I do admire your persistence! I hope things all work out. ;-)
Are 6 dogs too many?: my danno heartstkeylasunset on June 18th, 2013 12:57 am (UTC)
No worries about the pictures. I'll put them online whenever I get them. No rush at all!

The dogs will hopefully settle down. It's just so weird that it came out of nowhere. I guess dogs will be dogs!

Stay clueless about the H50 drama - you'll be happier. And 1_million_words is a happy, happy fan place!!! I'm so glad y'all started it!

Thank you for the kind words about my muses (who may be coming back at least for a visit) and about school. It's been a very interesting journey so far!

Thanks again!!!

It so good to hear from you! I'm happy the pet-sitting business is started and hope it goes well. I don't see how it can't!

That's so strange about your dogs. I wish I could offer some advice, but I'm sure you know oodles more about dogs than I do. I have never had more than one at a time.

You are absolutely right about not getting things done when you aren't as busy! I don't know why that is, but it's true for me, too. But you deserve a break and should enjoy it. Productivity isn't all that important.

Saw Iron Man 3 this weekend and LOVED it! Excellent, excellent movie. Have only seen Star Trek once, but I think that's just because I have been focused on other stuff going on right now. I would love to see The Great Gatsby, too, but that falls into the "other stuff is keeping me away from it" category, too.

Must go post the blog now! But I wanted you to know that I love reading your updates!!
Are 6 dogs too many?: beautifultkeylasunset on June 18th, 2013 01:00 am (UTC)
Hey BB!!

I know - the dogs just up and started fighting. Nothing changed. It's just so weird!!!

Yep, when I'm busy, I get a lot more done. It's so strange but it's totally true!!

IM3 is great fun, isn't it? Good times!

I haven't seen The Great Gatsby. I've heard it is awesome but it just looks so overdone to me, I don't know if I'll actually go or not. I feel like I should - great literature needs to be valued!

I'm been loving your posts even when I don't comment on them. MMMMmmmm good for today's!!

Hi, glad the business is a go.

I think you are a brave soul for going back to school and majoring in a field that looks cool, but confuses the hell out of me. Go you!!!

As to the puppy problem...

Have they been fixed? If not, heat aggression could be the reason for the fights.

I know my two have often started fighting over food, especially if one has something the other doesn't. I watch them carefully when I give them treats.

And to stop a dog fight throw vinegar on them. lasairfhiona gave me that piece of advice since she raises and shows beagles.

I basically put myself between my two when I see signs of what I call pissy behavior.

I do hope things get better for you and the puppies.
Are 6 dogs too many?: Pudgetkeylasunset on June 18th, 2013 01:04 am (UTC)
OMG - I had no idea that simulation and game design is actually code for Computer Programming. I don't know computer programming! How did I stumble into this field? But it is great fun learning something so totally different!

The dogs are all fixed, They have been since they were old enough to be spayed. That's one of the things that makes the least amount of sense! They all came to the house as puppies. We haven't introduced a new one into the pack. It isn't when they eat. It's only when they go outside! Now we take half out front and half out back. That has helped but it seems like only a temporary solution.

I've never heard of using vinegar but if they fight again, I'm going to try it. The first time, we could not get them to stop. It was horrible. The second two times, screaming and (unfortunately) hitting them stopped it. I will try the vinegar if it starts again.

Thank you again!!!

YAY for the business!!! I'm so excited for you two!

I absolutely understand not writing when I'm not busy. It was ages since I wrote on the weekends. However, I am current on Bunheads!

Yay for finding activities you enjoy. Ask if they'll play BeeGees. They are what I remember most about going to Skateland when I was younger. I do kind of miss it now that you mention it.

I desperately want to see Star Trek again. DESPERATELY. Drive up here, I'll buy dinner!

The dog crisis - My thought is that perhaps Pudge is not as alpha as she was if she is not intervening. I'm sorry, its a miserable. We have a miserable puppy situation at my house too, so... *hugs*

YAY for back to school. Wait... I said that... out loud... Weird. Well - ENJOY IT!!

H50 - I don't know. It's so strange. I love that you say that about 1mw, but we are a small community still, and new, and there are small little dramas, but I do think that a lot of the ego is checked at the door, and it would be wonderful to see that happen in H50. I will keep my fingers crossed.

OMFG I CAN'T WAIT FOR SHEILD!!!! And Almost Human too, but mostly SHIELD!!!!!!!!!!!1

Other than that - I LOVE YOU AND HUGS!!!
Are 6 dogs too many?: quacktkeylasunset on June 18th, 2013 01:12 am (UTC)
You have been very productive with your writing!! Go you!

Oh God yes - BeeGees. I used to skate to them! You should go skating some time. Your muscle memory will take over!! And it is great exercise!

Okay, according to google maps, it will take me 12 hours and 1 minute to get to Boston. (Yes, 1 minute!!!) If I leave now, you can buy me breakfast and we'll have time to go to an afternoon matinee!

I think Pudge may be part of the problem. As much as it kills me to say it, she's 13.5 years old. While she is still alpha, she doesn't exert control like she used to. Zumi isn't next in the peeking order but she is the next oldest. That may have something to do with the fight for power. I have no real idea!

H50 fandom is just weirding me out. I mostly avoid it. Apparently everyone else does too. There is almost no activity. Oh well. It was a fun ride while it lasted.

I'm sure there will be S.H.I.E.L.D. madness to help pick up the slack!! Very very excited about Coulson on a weekly basis!!

Love and many hugs to you too!!!

I really hope your pet sitting business takes off--it's a great idea with loads of potential.

Re: H50 fandom, I'm sorry to say this but I think the damage is done. I know I'm pretty disgusted by Michelle Borth's behavior and the twitter fans supporting her actions are not exactly a convivial bunch (I mean seriously, #thesuggitfamily?). I'm also sickened by the fans who are deliberately goading Borth--it's time to just let all of the crap go. I don't understand why both sides can't just all step back and watch the show without creating drama.

I would love to see the show succeed if only for Alex and Scott's sake and for all of us to just be able to enjoy the McDanno/team dynamics and in order for that to happen, the stupid twitter wars need to stop.
Are 6 dogs too many?: backhoetkeylasunset on June 18th, 2013 01:13 am (UTC)
Yeah, I think H50 imploded and will never recover. Oh well - we still have the pretties to look at!

Thank you for the good wishes about our petting sitting business. It's starting very slowly but we'll get there!

Thanks again!

*Waves HI* and *tackle hugs you*

Good luck with the pet sitting business!!!!

So sad to see what happened with the fandom. I know I slowly took steps back from it and miss all of the fun we had.

So the muse has decided to go on vacation without you....BAD MUSE! I'll take a look around.

PS - haven't forgetten about your b-day, I think your muse and my muse must both be off together somewhere.
Are 6 dogs too many?: Group Hugtkeylasunset on June 18th, 2013 01:15 am (UTC)
Tackle Hugs you back!!!

Thank you - the petting sitting is going to be huge - I just feel it in my bones!!

H50 will never be the same. But that's just how it is. Sad but true. I have made some great friends from it - looking right at you!!!

Don't worry about my b-day graphic. Whenever your muses are having some downtime, it will be fine. and you know anything with Steve/Danny in it will be perfect!!!

Thanks, BB. (((More hugs))))

Looking right back at you :-)

Think with the Bruins being in the playoffs my muse decided it was time to leave for awhile. Not that I'm ignoring the muses they are ignoring me.
