Not a happy camper
On Sunday night we had a BIG thunderstorm that knocked out our phone service. (On the plus side we didn't lose power.) When I say our phone went out, what I really mean is that we lost our home phone service, cell phone service, and Internet. I called AT&T from the parking lot of our local grocery store on Monday and set an appt for 8.30 yesterday morning.

The tech who came at 8:45 checked the wires that feed into our house. He then said he had to check the trunk line on the main road and disappeared.

At 10:30 tech #2 came. He had to come inside, to the displeasure of our dogs. He determined the modem that controls everything was fried in the storm. But he'd have to send someone else to "install" a new modem.

At 3:30 tech #3 came but she's not authorized to have modems in her truck or to install them. She had no idea why she'd been sent when tech #2 clearly said the modem was the problem.

This morning I called AT&T from a different parking lot. They had no record of tech #2 being at the house or tech #3 reporting that we needed a new modem.

I now have an appt between 4-8 for someone to deliver and install a new modem. I said why can't they just drop it off and I'll plug it in. "We aren't authorized to do that. But when can UPS it to you."

SERIOUSLY?!?! You can ship it but not leave it yourself?

Bottom line is that we've been without any phone service and no internet for 3 days. And my frustration is over the top.

As I was making both appts they kept asking me for a number where they could reach me. What part of MY PHONE ISNT WORKING is unclear to them?

If the dude comes between 4-8 and doesn't fix it, I'm going to punch somebody.

So how's your day?

Those BITCHES!!! Yeah, once you fix my phone there is a number you can reach me at, but until then, not so much.

UGH!!!

*hugs*

They finally got it right! I still want to reach through the phone and punch them! But I'm back on line so that's a good thing!

Yanno... I've stuck with AT&T for my cell service because it's actually the best I can get here. And 99.9% of the time, it's really good. But my GOD are the people that work for them idiots sometimes. And ALL of these companies are like that. Our Cox cable guy came out to hook up our internet and although we had our own modem (a better one than Cox provided because my husband is a gamer), he INSISTED on hooking up their modem and charged us for it, even though we said we didn't want it. *headdesk*

I feel for you and I pray to all that's bright and shiny that you get some resolution.

AT&T seems inhabited by morons who don't talk to the other morons. And trying to reach an actual, live person is next to impossible.

But it's all good now - they finally got it fixed!

I'm telling you. The first time we went into an AT&T store to get me my first cell phone, they swapped my husband's number and put it on my phone. He tried to call me on the ride home and discovered he had no service. UGH.

You sure it's AT&T and not Comcast 'cause that so sounds like something Comcast would do.

The one thing that's got me confused...why does your modem being fried affect your cellphone? Shouldn't the cellphone be using a cellular (WiFi, 4G, etc.) signal and not your modem?

I hear you - we don't have comcast but I've heard stories!

We live in a hollow so we don't get cell service on our cell phones. We have a repeater that boosts the signal and allows us to use our cell phones. Through hocus-pocus I don't understand, the cell booster is tied into the internet service. When one stops working, they all stop working. Technology! Wonderful when it works. Sucks when they can't fix it.

Oh Jeez, talk about the left hand not talking to the right. They better get it right now or I'll come and punch them for you! ;-P

Right? And they are a COMMUNICATION company!!! Unbelievable!!!

(I got your email about the weekend challenge. I'm good to go. But apparently my email isn't because I wasn't able to reply to you directly.)

That is just nuts and by now I would have been totally losing it!!!! I say go for it and punch somebody and you just cause to do it!!!

Really....are they not listening to what you're saying?

I wanted to punch several somebodies. But at least it's working now!

Communication companies don't think they need to communicate, apparently!
