100 Things: Life Lesson #4 I've Learned From My Dogs
Just because you are physically the smallest doesn't mean you can't be mentally the strongest.

For a long time, Pudge (the one in the picture) was the smallest dog in our house of dogs. Although Pudge is mostly Black Lab, she's not all Lab so she's smaller than a standard Lab. We had 3 Great Pyreness that towered over her. But she never allowed them to push her around. She stood her ground, learned to growl when she needed to, and could intimidate any of the other dogs who tried to mess with her. She was never aggressive and never attacked the other dogs. In fact, if the other dogs got into a squabble, Pudge would leave the area. If it wasn't her fight, she wanted nothing to do with the kerfluffle. And they knew not to mess with her because it would not end well for them.

Pudge has taught me that you don't have to be the biggest or the strongest to avoid being pushed around. Projecting the idea that you are tough enough to take care of yourself is all it takes.

As an addendum to that lesson, I read one time that George Lucas wanted to cast someone on the small side to be Luke Skywalker. Apparently George Lucas is small in stature and wanted to use Luke to prove that size did not equal power. Pudge would agree with that!

Current Mood: thankful

Pudge is one smart dog!

I read one time that George Lucas wanted to cast someone on the small side to be Luke Skywalker.

Didn't know that. What an interesting little tidbit.

Pudge is very smart!!! And cute!

Yep, apparently Lucas is not a Tall Man and wanted Luke to not be tall either.

Danno would appreciate that, I think!!!

I appreciate it too since I'm only 5'3".

What's the saying...good things come in small packages.

That really is a good life lesson. Confidence and standing strong go a long way. *hugs*

Thank you!! Pudge is very smart!!

Confidence and acting like you'll kick a** if you need to can be more powerful than actually kicking it!
